Yesterday, on the 1st of December, I made a conscious decision. (Doesn’t really happen that often – I usually go with the flow LOL) I decided that December 2011 is not going to be spent stressing. Worrying about shopping for Christmas presents or turkeys or snow shovels hehe. Or worrying about the state of the nation / economy / world / bank balance.
Although I LOVE Christmas, I do tend to get caught up in the stress of the season, but this year will be different. This year, I will not stress, I will NURTURE. I will not worry, I wil LOVE. I will not panic (!) I will B R E A T H E …
I have stopped listening to the news, most of it is negative, and if there is something really important I need to know, I’m sure I’ll find out. I will spend my time in joyful activities, like walking in the forest which today will be all sparkly with the heavy frost :-), watching Christmas movies, wrapping presents, laughing with family, switching off the telly & listening to my favourite music, or maybe even Christmas fm!
I will have lots of hugs with anyone who stands still long enough (so be warned LOL). I LOVE HUGS!!
I will be as kind to myself as I am towards everyone else. That means, for me, having a good breakfast, getting a good nights sleep, and not judging myself too harshly because the house isn’t spotless or my hair is a mess. I will have little moments of pampering during the day – using a nice handcream, putting my feet up for 5 minutes, or maybe, just maybe a few squares of Green & Blacks peppermint chocolate YUM!
I will eat nourishing wholesome food, we all need extra defences during the winter, and I will drink plenty of water. Central heating can play havoc with our skin, and this will help to keep hydrated & moisturised.
I will wear makeup every day! I have only just realised that a little bit of makeup can make me feel empowered, ready to face the day. One of my favourite sayings is face on, chest out, & chin up 🙂
So, this is MY Advent calendar. I plan to open each new day with the anticipation that I see when Adam opens each parcel in his Advent calendar – “I wonder what I’ll get today?!” This morning he opened a lovely Christmas angel – how wonderful!! Angels & chocolates all rolled into one!
Here’s wishing you a wonderful December – what gift will you open today?
